1. Who we are

Spotena (“we”) respects your privacy. This Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information when you use our website and Services.

2. Information we collect

Account & identity: when you sign in with Google, we receive identifiers and profile information Google shares (such as email, name, and profile image) according to your Google settings.

Usage & device: we may collect log data, IP address, browser type, language, and similar diagnostics to secure and improve the Services.

Chat content: chat messages are processed transiently in server memory while a stream is live, only to fan them out to other viewers and to run moderation. We do not write chat messages to a database. They are not retained after the stream ends.

Stream metadata: the title, description, host, YouTube video id, and start/end timestamps of your streams are stored to power the browse list and the host’s history.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide and improve the Services, authenticate users, deliver chat in real time, run moderation (including, when configured, an asynchronous AI classifier provided by HuggingFace), prevent fraud and abuse, comply with law, and communicate with you about the product.

4. Sharing

We may share information with service providers (e.g. hosting, email, analytics, security, AI moderation) who process data on our instructions.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and Spotena.

We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense of “selling” personal data for money.

5. Retention & security

Chat messages are not retained — they live only in process memory while a stream is active and disappear when the stream ends.

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active and as required by law. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data; no method is 100% secure.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise rights; we may verify your request. Note that chat messages are not retained, so we cannot provide a transcript of past chats.

7. International transfers

If we process data across borders, we take steps consistent with applicable law to protect the information.

8. Children

Spotena is not directed at children under the age required by law in your country. Do not use the Services if you are not old enough.

9. Changes

We may update this Policy. We will post the updated version and adjust the “last updated” date.
